How to Prepare for Life on a Boat

Can you answer that for me? Oh MY, it’s quite a question. We have purchased our boat and Derek sailed it from Rhode Island to St. Augustine, FL with the help of a captain and a friend. The kids and I flew down Friday, it was their first time to see the boat and all of our first time to sleep on it. It was so great, we didn’t want to leave when it was time to catch our fright home Sunday.

My list of things to buy is scary. It’s so much stuff and $. Derek’s is much longer and much more $. We have hired Jamie and Behan Gifford as coaches and they have helped with everything from buying the boat to health insurance, boat school and many other questions and concerns we have.

We plan to leave the dock as soon as possible in January for the Bahamas.

We will be back in the boat Thanksgiving break to clean out every single inch of the boat and then provision with everything we need but food. We will stick up with food when we get back to the boat after Christmas. It’s GO time
