The Journey from Sailing Wolfpack to Wolfpack Bar & Grill

Before we moved to Sealy there was on old building in town that I loved, it was a feed store that was opened in the 1920’s through the 1980’s then closed. When I first visited it around 2010 it was a resale shop and a maze of different rooms and ramps and was a MESS. I’ve always love old buildings and downtown “Main Street areas”. The building had been closed for some time and listed for sale more than once. Since we knew we’d be leaving for our sailing trip, I held off on acting. But before we were even back to the USA we made an appointment to view it, and started daydreaming about the possibilities.

The day we went to see it, we fell in love. We could see the potential—a space brimming with character and charm, similar to Gruene Hall. A place for families and friends to gather, with an old-school Texas vibe. Others walked through and didn’t see what we saw, but that didn’t matter. We made an offer immediately.

The purchase itself was complicated. It was a “for sale by owner” situation, and it took some negotiating before we finally agreed on a price and closed in October 2021—just a few months after returning from the boat. We didn’t secure renovation funding until February 2022, so until then, we were paying for small projects out of pocket.

Once the loan came through, everything went full throttle. We honestly had no idea what we were doing. It was chaotic and overwhelming. Our son, Jagger, was preparing to graduate high school and head to college, and on top of all that, we were building a restaurant from scratch with no restaurant experience.

Looking back, I wish we had more time to plan before jumping in. But we just figured it out as we went.

We officially opened Wolfpack Bar & Grill on May 20, 2022—and wow, it was wild. We were working 16–18 hour days, both of us, every single day. We each lost over 20 pounds. It was all-consuming. Our moms and their friends were incredible, pitching in wherever they could—painting, tiling, grouting, cooking. It was a community effort.

We ran Wolfpack for a year and a half, met amazing people, and learned more than we ever imagined—about business, life, and ourselves. But eventually, we reached our breaking point. We were exhausted, and it was clear that we couldn’t sustain that pace.

So we quietly started exploring options and soon found a buyer. In May 2024, we officially sold the restaurant.

Look at these great memories, we had so many siblings and family members working together. It was a true family restaurant!

And that’s the story of Wolfpack Bar & Grill—a wild, unforgettable chapter in our lives. We traded one HUGE adventure for another!
