This summer we did another amazing trip in the motorhome where traveled by land, air and boat!
We added several new stickers! California, Oregon, Washington, Nevada, Arizona and Hawaii! Hawaii was a last minute decision. I found a place to store the motorhome in Pasadena, CA and we flew from LA to Kauai. I was able to use miles for most of our flights and the flight time was under 6 hours, compared to going to Kauai from Houston it was quite a savings on time and money.
We started by dropping Jagger off at Bass Camp on June 9th in Del Rio and Derek, Jett, Julia and I went to Garner. From Del Rio we went to New Mexico, then Colorado, through Utah to Idaho, Oregon, touched the wheels in Washington, back to Oregon, California, Hawaii, Nevada, Arizona and back to our favorite town in Colorado.
Highs:
Blue Heart in Idaho, it’s a natural spring that comes out in a spot on the Snake River. The water is a stunning clear blue color. The morning we were there it was cloudy, a sunny day would have been amazing there. We tried waiting the sun out but it didn’t happen

Cannon Beach, Oregon
Picturesque town! The restaurants, bars and homes were shingles and hydrangeas were everywhere. There were feral bunny rabbits in the parking lots and lawns, seriously! For sunset we went to a nice grocery store to get snacks, wine and cheese for the beach. When we got to the beach we were surprised to see everyone had their own little fires going, we ended up scavenging the beach for wood, borrowing a litter and making our own. It was a DREAM night. I wish we would have spent at least three nights there.

We crabbed in Tillamook, OR
It was a blast and the crab were delicious!

We visited Crater Lake National Park in Oregon. We hiked to several waterfalls in the area and found a dreamy hot springs!

In California we loved the Venice Beach area, I could go back and rent a little cottage a few blocks from the beach. great weather, shopping, eating and people watching. We spent the 4th of July in Shasta, visited San Francisco and ended up in LA

Hanalei, Hawaii
We didn’t love Kauai like I thought we would it was very crowded. Hanalei Bay Resort did save the trip. The views were stunning!

Leaving Pasadena, CA on our way back to Colorado we visited Las Vegas, the Grand Canyon and the four corners

Ouray, Colorado
This is our most favorite town! There is so much to do in the area, the weather is phenomenal and there are waterfalls everywhere you look. Between the off-roading, hot springs and hiking it is by far our favorite town to stay while we are traveling in the motorhome.

I loved seeing the migrant workers in the fields in California. Driving by berry fields was amazing, the road side stands with fresh fruit were great.
Lows:
We left Texas with 5 nights of reservations and we were gone for 7 weeks! I do like the flexibility of not having reservations so we can go and do what we want but each time we pack to to move I spend lots of time on the Internet searching for the next place we want to go, finding a RV Park we want to go to and hoping they have a spot for us. It can get stressful especially when we are without internet much of the time.
We really had a great time so I can’t complain but there were some lows. Sedona was PACKED, Each swimming hole had 100s of people packed in. Las Vegas was great but so hot. I’m glad we made it to Hawaii but doing Lake Tahoe, Yosemite and Sequoia would have been nice.
I’m finishing writing this months after our trip and we have sold the motorhome. I HIGHLY recommend it to anyone that enjoys traveling and road trips. My favorite part was never having to go to the bathroom at gas stations! No finding shoes and waking kids up to go to disgusting bathrooms! I would buy the smallest motorhome that will comfortably fit your family. Many national parks have size restrictions and we always towed a car so it was difficult at times to find places we could fit. Ours was a bunkhouse, I loved it because everyone’s bed was accessible all the time, there was no folding out the sofa or table to fit our family. We would wake up and could be on the road for hours before our kids woke up and could comfortably walk around the motorhome to get our coffee going.
Here is our finally picture of everywhere we visited in her!
