Belize It!

Being in the Houston area we are so lucky to have short flights to so many great locations. Belize has been in my list for years so when I saw the kids had a four day break we booked flights for our first trip there. I knew it was not a “beach vacation” before going but was still disappointed in the beaches. The seaweed was terrible while we were there and is currently covering much of the Caribbean and the Cancun area. We were able to drive our golf cart down a very long and very bumpy road to Secret Beach, had it been easier to get there we would have spent more time there and enjoyed the sunset view. We loved the resort we stayed at. Overall I’d say go if you want to dive, bar hop or fish with friends. If you want to lounge on a beautiful beach and swim in the ocean there are better choices.

Pro Tips:

It is all very casual, no need for nice clothes.

Secrets Beach is worth the drive, at least once 😬

The Chicken Poop Bingo is fun but get there very early.

Have a drink at the bar at Matachicha if you are looking for a upscale bar. Victoria House is nice as well but total opposite sides of Ambergris Caye.

Caye Caulker is a cool place, less crowded, smaller and more laid back that Ambergris Caye.

Do the ATM cave tours, we didn’t and I wish we would have.

Swim with the nerf sharks, it was very cool!
